Don't I know you from somewhere? Haven't I seen you before? Jack O' Diamonds (x2) Caught me running for the door Every move is a gamble Every gamble is a way to see Oh Jack O' Diamonds (x2) You brought me here Now what you gonna do? No silver, no gold No time for I told you so No silver, no gold I've only what my two hands can hold Jack O' Diamonds (x2) I can place a bet or two Jack O' Diamonds No what you gonna do? Oh, take a chance on my love, babe Tell me if I fall behind Jack O' Diamonds (x2) I've made a mistake or two Jack O' Diamonds Now what you gonna do?
2.
Too many people with too much to lose No promises made at the end of the day Too many people taking everything away When it comes to your life, it's a game you can't even play How does it feel to watch a man die at the hands of a demon we all want to deny? Oh, I can hear your holy violin You play it sweet, with sorrow right between the eyes And now that you're gone What are we to do with all the empty spaces? And you say "Here it is, my name, spelled out plain as day. Can you still not even say it?" Every devil needs an angel to let a little light back in Did you think you'd be the one to leave us wondering How many teardrops until we've seen enough? The human heart is strong but it can only take so much My brother, my friend, oh where have you been? This house has an empty room Why don't you come on in? Too many people with too much to lose

about

Two new songs from home:

Jack O' Diamonds was written sometime in 2019 and inspired by the old folk song of the same name. Not necessarily "based on" or a "reinterpretation" of this old song, though it borrows the name, but it is a song of chance, of uncertainty, of trying not to lose what you're holding.

House With An Empty Room was written in early July of 2020 in response to the murders of African American men and women by police in recent times. It's about as topical as I've ever tried to be and I hope you get something out of it.

Thank you.
